It's time to vote for the 2014 Nutmeg Book Awards!
Teachers and Librarians, please use the printable ballots or the link to the Google Form to collect individual votes at your school/library. When you have all the votes collected, use the survey monkey links below to submit your total votes. Please only submit one time per school/library.
Google Forms (to collect individual votes at your school/library):
You can have students vote online for your school tally using Google Forms. Please note that this does not submit the vote directly to the state. You still need to use the survey monkey link to submit your students' votes.
Here is a copy of a Google Form you can copy and use in your library.
Log into Google
Click on one of the links below
Go to your Google Drive. The Google Form spreadsheet for voting should be listed as one of your files.
Check the box next to the file
New menu choices should now appear across the top of your file list.
Click on More, then choose the option to Make a copy
You should now have 2 new files that says 'Copy of 2014 Teen (or Intermediate or High School) Nutmeg Voting' and one that says 'Copy of 2014 Teen (or Intermediate or High School) Nutmeg Voting (Responses)'
You are now the owners of these copied files and you can rename, personalize for your library, and view the results.
The timeline of the Nutmeg Book Award has shifted to match the school year instead of the calendar year. The new list will be announced to CASL & CLA members on or about February 15th and to the public on May 1st; just in time to kick off summer reading. Students will then read the nominees throughout the summer and the following school year. Voting will take place in April.
Here is a breakdown of the new dates:
October 1st: Student & librarian selection committee applications are posted to website December 15th: Student & librarian selection committee applications due February 15th: CASL/CLA top secret announcement of nominees April: Student Voting (all votes in by April 30th) May 1st: Public announcement of nominated books for the following year May 15th: Winning books from April voting are announced
We are also proud to share that The Nutmeg Book Award is growing!
We currently have the Intermediate Award for students in grades 4-6, the Teen Award for students in grades 7-8, and the new 2014 High School Award for students in grades 9-12.
Starting in 2015, there will be a fourth level to the award for students in grades 2-4. With these additions, The Nutmeg Book Award will be an important part of literacy from elementary school right through high school graduation!
If you have any questions about these changes, please contact Pamela Dear dearp [at] guilford.k12.ct.us or Kristi Sadowski ksadowski [at] coventryct.org, Co-Chairs of the Nutmeg Steering Committee.
